Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions. Especially for beginners, the operating system offers a friendly user interface in which you can quickly find your way around. If you want to install it on your computer, all you need is a USB stick and a connection to the Internet to download the file you need.
How to install Ubuntu on your computer
Ubuntu is installed on your PC via a USB stick. In addition, it is necessary to download the desired Ubuntu version from the Internet. If you want a longer support duration, look for the abbreviation "LTS" after the version number. Also download the program UNetbootin.- Now remove all external storage such as hard drives or USB sticks.
- Connect a USB stick to a USB port of your choice to the PC. This requires at least 8 GB.
- Then start UNetbootin.
- In "Image" select the downloaded Ubuntu file. For "Type", specify "USB drive." Start the process via the "Ok" or "Next" button.
- Once the process is finished, Ubuntu is installed on your USB stick.
- After you have restarted your PC, select the USB stick as a boot option in the BIOS.
- Now the installation process starts automatically. Follow the instructions and once you have the choice, select "Download updates while Ubuntu is being installed" and "Install third-party software for graphics and Wi-Fi hardware, MP3 and other media".
- Follow the installation wizard. Note: Once you have installed Unbuntu, all data on your hard drive will be deleted.
