Extending WLAN - these methods are available

Extending WLAN is always necessary when the range of your router is not sufficient. To extend the WLAN signal of your router, you can use both a repeater and an access point. Get an overview of how to set them up.

Expanding WLAN: This is how a repeater helps

If the WLAN reception is not equally good in all rooms, there are various ways to improve it and extend the WLAN range. The most common method to extend the WLAN is to use a repeater. This is connected to the WLAN router via WPS or cable, receives its WLAN signal and amplifies it. By using a repeater, the range of the WLAN can often be more than doubled.

How to expand your WLAN with an access point

In addition to a repeater, you can also use an access point to expand your WLAN signal. The advantage of the Access Point is not only the higher range, but also the speed of the connection that can be achieved.
  1. To include an Access Point in your network, please first connect it to the power supply.
  2. Then connect the device via LAN cable to your existing WLAN router, so that the Access Point can receive its signal.
  3. Now open the configuration page of the access point in your browser by entering its address and log in with your login data.
  4. Click "Wireless" or "Wireless" in the access point settings and set network encryption and password to complete the setup and connect to the device via WLAN.
