From crude oil you can produce fuel. To do this, you need a refinery:

• Per unit of crude oil you get 3x Simple Fuel, which you can use for boats and minicopters as a source of energy.
• You also need the fuel for the production of torches and lanterns, just as for flamethrowers and chainsaws.
• In turn, you get crude oil by looting barrels. There is also the option to build an oil pump. This extracts crude oil directly from the earth and thus provides a permanent yield.

By the way, you can make simple fuel not only from crude oil, but also from animal fat and cloth. You need 2x animal fat and 1x cloth per unit of fuel.
