In addition to the option to view a live image, most IP cameras also offer the option to create recordings and store them. The storage systems available vary from camera to camera.

1. Some cameras have an integrated SD card slot that allows an SD card to be inserted to record the live image. This storage method is not only cost-effective, but also very secure, since only you have access to the recordings.
2. If your IP camera does not have an SD card slot, you can alternatively connect an external hard drive or NAS storage to the camera and store the recordings there.
3. Without purchasing additional hardware, it is also possible to store the recordings on a PC, laptop or Mac. To use this storage method, please install on your computer the software of the surveillance camera and set up the recordings there.

Many manufacturers of IP cameras already point out when buying the surveillance cameras that the storage of recordings is also possible online in a cloud. If you use a cloud service, you can access the videos of your IP camera from anywhere and do not have to worry about losing the recordings if the camera is stolen. However, the use of such cloud services is usually not free, but requires the payment of a monthly subscription fee.
