What is XMPP and what are the advantages?

XMPP stands for "Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol" and is the protocol of the Jabber messenger. We have explained this one in more detail here. XMPP plays a crucial role in how it works:

• Thanks to XMPP, it is possible to communicate with users of other messenger services without owning these services themselves.
• The basic principle of e-mails can be used as a vivid comparison: Here, too, users of different providers can write to each other.

• An advantage of this is that as a Jabber user, you do not need to install any other messengers - this is convenient and practical, entirely in the sense of a central platform.
