How to restart your iPad

If you want to restart the iPad, it works with the help of a key combination. Depending on the model, the combination you need to press is different.

• For models with a home button, hold it down together with the power button until the Apple logo appears on the display.
• For all other models, you need to briefly hold down the volume up button, then the volume down button, and then the power button until the Apple logo appears on the tablet's screen.

Restarting using a key combination also works if the iPad is frozen and no longer responds. Data is usually not lost during a restart.

Turning off iPad completely

In addition to standby mode or a restart, you can shut down your iPad completely via the device settings or via a key combination.

1. Call the Settings app and switch to the "General" category.
2. Scroll down and tap the "Power off" option.
3. Finally, slide the slider on the display to the right.

As with the restart, the key combination for shutting down depends on the model. On models with a home button, simply hold it down until the slider appears on the display.
