Windows 10: Disable Startup Manager

Are you tired of being asked to select the operating system you want to use when you start your PC? Then you should disable the Start Manager and thereby skip this question. For this, you just need to invest some time and the Start Manager won't bother you anymore.

How to disable Start Manager

Disabling Start Manager is really easy and quick to do.
  1. First, open the Windows 10 Start menu and click the "System Preferences" button. In the submenu that appears, click on the "System" section.
  2. You will now open another menu in which you can select "Advanced System Settings". A new window now appears in which you click "Startup and Restore" and then settings.
  3. You now have access to the settings and must find the item "Display duration of the operating system bar" in it and prevent the hook. Delete the check mark, so the Start Manager no longer appears at all.
  4. If you want to significantly shorten the display duration, then leave the check mark there. Behind it you will find a display in which you can read the display duration. By setting this period, for example, to five seconds, the Start Manager appears only briefly.

Just call the Windows Start Manager

Should you still want to access the Start Manager, you can call it manually. To do so, simply press "F8" while your PC or laptop is booting up. Subsequently, you can access the Windows Start Manager.
