Google Chrome: How to turn push notifications on and off

More and more websites offer the option to keep you up to date via push notifications. Our guide shows how to enable or disable these notifications in Google Chrome.

News not necessary: you can permanently disable push notifications in Chrome.

Push notifications are meant to keep you as a visitor loyal to websites. However, this is far from always desired, so the query can be annoying.

How to take care of push notifications in Chrome

You can find the right place to manage Chrome notifications in the following way:
  1. Open the "Settings" via the icon in the top right corner of Chrome.
  2. Select the "Privacy and Security" section on the left and then "Website Settings". Alternatively, type chrome://settings/content in the URL field to get there directly.
  3. Click "Notifications" under "Permissions".
  4. Now you'll see a listing of the websites you've visited, and you can set whether you want to receive push notifications from them. Conversely, you can also turn off the notifications.
If you never want to be notified by a site in general, you can set that as well. At the very top, you will see a slider next to "Sites can ask if you want to receive notifications". By changing the slider from blue (enabled) to gray (disabled), you're done.
