Excel: Print first line on every page - how it works

If your Excel document comprises more than one printed page, it can quickly become confusing. However, the Print Title feature gives you the ability to specify specific rows and columns that should appear on each printed page. Learn how to turn on and use the feature here.

Setting the first row as the print title: here's how

If you want a specific row or column of your Excel file to appear on all printed pages, you need to set it as the print title. Follow these steps to add a print title to your worksheet:
  1. Start Excel and open the document where you want to add a print title.
  2. In the ribbon, switch to the "Page Layout" tab.
  3. Click the "Print Title" option in the "Page Setup" category.
  4. Now select a related row or column or both at the "Print Title" item. Their content will then be displayed as a print title on the printed pages.

How to fix rows

In addition to a print title, you can also facilitate the editing of your Excel spreadsheet by using the Fix function. With its help, you can fix certain rows, columns or a selection so that they are displayed even when you scroll through the document.
  1. Call up the "View" tab and click on the "Fix" option.
  2. Now select either "Fix First Row" or "Fix First Column" from the menu.
  3. Alternatively, you can also make your own selection and fix it using the "Fix Window" option.
