Excel: Heading on every page - here's how it works

Especially with large data sets, you can quickly lose track in Excel. However, there are some tips and tricks on how to make your document clearer. Learn what options you have to display a heading on every page of your Excel document.

How to fix the heading in Excel

For example, for a better overview, you can fix the line where your heading is located so that it is always displayed when scrolling through the document.
  1. Open the Excel file in which you want to display the heading.
  2. Switch to the "View" tab in the menu bar.
  3. Click on the "Fix window" function and select "Fix top row". In addition to fixing the top row, you also have the option to fix a selection or the first column.
Alternatively, you can also use the header. In this you can also enter a title, which will then be displayed on each of the pages contained in the document.

Set up print title - here's how to proceed

If your worksheet includes several printed pages, you can use the print title to specify a heading for all pages.
  1. Open the Excel document and call up the worksheet for which you want to create a print title.
  2. Switch to the "Page layout" tab.
  3. Click on "Print title" and enter the command: "$1:$1" at the item "Repeat line above". The command will repeat and display the first line of content on each print page.
  4. Finally confirm the entry with "OK".
