Excel: Fix heading - these options are available

In Excel, you have various functions at your disposal with which you can edit data sets. In addition, the program includes tools to find errors or simplify the view, especially for large tables. If you want to keep the heading in view while scrolling, then you can fix this row.

How to fix the heading in Excel

With the spreadsheet program Excel, it can happen that your tables become very large. In this case, you have to scroll way down to look at all the information. Nevertheless, in order to know which column has which meaning, it is useful to still display the heading of the columns. In Excel, it is therefore possible to fix the first row.

1. To fix the first row, go to the "View" tab at the top.
2. Then select the "Fix window" subitem. Here you can now select the option "Fix top row". The first line is now fixed and is also always displayed when scrolling.
3. If you want to fix several lines, on the other hand, then you must first select only the line, which are located below the lines that should be fixed as the last. So all the rows that are above the selected row will be fixed.
4. Then go back to the "View" tab and select the sub-item "Fix window" here as well.
5. Here you then click on the option "Fix window".
6. If you want to fix a column, then select a column that is to the right of the last column that you want to fix. Then proceed as described above.
