What is HTML5? What's behind the technology
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a markup or programming language that you can use to create web pages. The World Wide Web Consortium, W3C for short, regulates the structure of the code. HTML 5 therefore offers many innovations in contrast to its predecessor.
What to expect with HTML5
With the release of the latest HTML version came some innovations in the features of the markup language. After a long time, HMTL5 is the first major evolution of HTML4, which was released in the 90s. The main emphasis is put on the interaction with the website users. For example, a comment function, social media links or other media content were added, which was previously only possible via plug-ins.- An important innovation is the introduction of structuring elements. So it is now possible to insert sections via the tag <section> or navigation bars via <nav>. So can be scored especially with search engines.
- In addition, media content in particular, such as audio or video files can now be inserted more easily.
- Also interactive elements such as the insertion of context menus via <menu> is now possible. With <details> you can add fold-out elements.
- In addition, you can more easily insert forms that are used, for example, to contact.
- HTML5 offers other advantages in addition to the above points. So it is possible to build the code more clearly and better structured. This facilitates the work when several people are programming at the same time on a project.
