Google Maps: create public event

Since an update in spring 2019, you can also post events on Google Maps. These are displayed on the map and can be seen by other users you are connected to on Google. Events are reviewed by Google and then published.

Setting a public event on Google Maps

Recently, you can add public events on Google Maps. These are then visible to other users on Google Maps and can be shared via Messenger, social media and a URL. You can create an event through the Google Maps app. The feature is free and available for anyone to use. Don't be surprised if your event doesn't appear on the map immediately after you post it. This is because events have to be unlocked by Google Support. This can take a few minutes or in exceptions even hours. You will receive a notification and an email to your Gmail account as soon as the event has been unlocked.

How to proceed

  1. Open Google Maps on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Tap the menu in the top left corner.
  3. Select "My Posts".
  4. Gehen Sie zu „Events“.
  5. Wählen Sie „Event hinzufügen“.
  6. Geben Sie einen Titel, eine Adresse, Datum und Uhrzeit und eine Beschreibung ein.
  7. Wählen Sie „Teilen“, um die Veranstaltung über soziale Netzwerke oder Messenger zu versenden.
