Football Manager 2020: Setting up scouting - these factors are important

Setting up the scouting department is in your hands as a manager. As a basis, you need to know the following aspects in the "Scouting" section:

• The number and quality of employees: Under "Employees" you can see how many scouts are employed and if more scouts are possible. In the "Staff search" you can search for more scouts. Crucial here are the skills in the assessment of players, both currently and in terms of potential.
• Equally important are the regional knowledge of the scouts: make sure you have a good mix to cover wide parts of the world. You can see the current status under "Knowledge".
• Under "Scouting" -> "Players" you can see in the upper left corner, which scouting package you are currently paying. This decides how many players can be scouted, also with more expensive packages more details (such as roles) will be visible. The scouting packages can be selected separately for youth players and A-players.
• Under "Scouting Focus" you set which types of players should be searched for. With short-term searches, you can react if you specifically need a reinforcement.

If the club finances allow it, it is therefore worthwhile not to save on scouting - this is especially true if you plan to stay longer at a club. This way you can regularly find promising talents from all over the world and maybe even develop them into superstars.
