Football Manager 2020: Dissolve Contract - Tips and Info

If a player's time is up, selling him doesn't always work out as desired. Just in case, there is always the option to terminate the contract. We explain how it works and give tips.

The contract termination is usually the last resort, if a normal sale partout does not want to succeed. The dissolution costs the club cash, but can still be useful.

Football Manager 2020: How to dissolve player contracts

For contract dissolution, you should know the following:

• You can dissolve a contract at any time and without the consent of the player. The option to do so can be found in the player's window under "Transfer".
• The cost of contract termination is clearly defined: The player is paid approximately the amount of the remaining term of his contract. Here, there is no room for negotiation.
• For example, if you dissolve a contract that is still valid for 18 months, the dissolution would cost a whole 3 million euros for an annual salary of 2 million euros.
• Nevertheless, there are situations in which this way out is worthwhile. For example, if you absolutely want to get the squad place free due to certain regulations. Also with players who turn the rest of the team against you, but are difficult to sell, the resolution can make sense.

Most of the time it is advisable to still first arrange the sale or possibly a loan. This is because you get money or can at least save the salary of the player and are rid of him. Even a lower transfer revenue than the market value is thereby preferable to the contract termination.
