Setting default apps - how to do it

Default apps are apps that open by default when you open a certain file type or perform a certain task. Depending on your device and operating system, you may need to follow different steps to configure your default apps.

Setting default apps with Windows 10

With Windows 10, you can set default apps for certain tasks that will run automatically whenever you open a particular file type, for example. These default apps are set in Windows 10 in the settings. There you can set apps for email, maps, music player, picture viewer and many other tasks that run by default when you want to open or edit a file.

1. Open the settings.
2. Select the "Apps" menu item.
3. Click "Default apps".
4. Under "Select default apps", click the desired task for which you want to set an app.
5. Select the app and confirm with "Ok".
