Google Stadia: How family sharing works

You can share your Stadia content with the whole family. This means that it's not just you who can play the titles in the Stadia library. Read how to set up family sharing.

Shared fun: the family group can include up to six people in total.

Shared content is not uncommon in the streaming world and Google Stadia is also going down this path. This is not new in the Google universe, as Stadia sharing runs via Google's family management (see https://families.google.com).

Google Stadia: Set up family sharing - this is how it works

Proceed as follows:
  1. Click on your profile picture at the top right and open the "Stadia settings".
  2. Select the "Family" menu item on the left.
  3. There you can activate the family functions. Click on "Start now".
  4. In the next step you will see a summary of the features. Click "Create" to begin the process.
  5. Follow the rest of the steps to invite up to five people via email and enter a payment method. This is necessary for game purchases as well as Stadia Pro.
For any purchases, you will be asked for permission as the family administrator. Then you can specify all settings under "Family", including parental controls if younger players are part of the group. When playing, it should be noted that different group members can not play a title at the same time. A little agreement is therefore necessary to be able to use the content peacefully.
