Android 11: Connect to TV - here's how to do it

If you want to transfer photos, videos or other content from your smartphone to the TV, you first have to connect the devices. As in previous Android versions, Android 11 also lets you choose between several ways to pair your smartphone and TV.

How to connect your smartphone to the TV on Android 11

In order to connect your Android smartphone wirelessly to the TV, the TV must be equipped with an appropriate interface such as Miracast. As is also known from the previous versions of Android, you also have the option under Android 11 to connect your smartphone and a TV with the help of the Share function.
  1. In order to use the Share function, you must first turn on the Miracast function of your TV. The option for this can usually be found in the settings of the TV.
  2. Then you can turn on the share function on your smartphone. The exact name of the function depends on the manufacturer. For Samsung devices, for example, you will find the function under the name "Smart View".
  3. Once the devices have found each other, you will receive a connection request, which you must confirm.
Many smart TV manufacturers also offer a free smartphone app to match the TV device. Through the app, you can then also set up a wireless connection between TV and smartphone. If your TV is not equipped with such a wireless connection option, you can retrofit it with a dongle such as the Google Chromecast. You then have the option to set up a connection via the Chromecast. Instead of a wireless connection, you can also connect the smartphone to the TV with the help of a special HDMI adapter.
