Windows 10: Install VMware Player - How to

To get familiar with VMware Player, the installation on Windows 10 is particularly suitable. This is because it allows you to test the software extensively without fearing any consequences.

How to install VMware Player in Windows 10

Before installing, keep in mind that the software is several gigabytes in size. Therefore, you need to allow some time or let the installation run in the background.
  1. First download the Windows 10 ISO file and check that your firewall and virus scanner are up to date.
  2. Now you need to install the VMware Player program and click "Create a New Virtual Machine".
  3. Activate "Installer disc image file (iso)" and select the Windows 10 ISO file. Then click "Next".
  4. You will now see the field "Full name", in which you enter the user name and click "Next".
  5. You will see the information that you need to activate Windows later, as you do not enter a product key and confirm this fact.
  6. Choose a name for the virtual machine and under "Location" specify the location. Note that at least 20 GB must be available.
  7. Now you need to specify the size of the virtual hard disk with 20 GB. In this window, select "Store virtual disk as single file" and confirm the entry.

How long does the installation take?

Since the virtual machine is not only created, but also set, the installation takes some time. In addition, the files are very large. Due to this, you should allow at least an hour for your device to work. If you run other processes on the device in parallel, the time will be significantly extended.
