Quoting WhatsApp - how it works in Messenger

Chatting with WhatsApp can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. If your virtual counterpart writes many messages one after the other, it can lead to a comprehension problem. In such cases, use the quote function to refer directly to a message.

Avoid misunderstandings with the quote function

On WhatsApp, a conversation can sometimes become confusing if both conversation partners quickly send several messages in succession. Then it is unclear to which messages individual responses refer. Fortunately, WhatsApp has the quote function to show your conversation partner which of his messages you are replying to. This makes the conversation process clearer.

Quoting via the "Forward"

1. Hold your finger on the message you want to quote until it is highlighted in blue.
2. Tap the left arrow in the bar that appears at the top to quote the message.
3. The message you want to quote now appears in the text input field above your message.
4. Enter the message you want to reply to the quote with.
5. Send your message as usual.

Swipe to quote

1. Swipe the message you want to quote to the right.
