Xing: Export resume - how to use the feature

Xing offers an online platform for business networking and contacts. Unlike LinkedIn, the focus is primarily on the German-speaking region. In addition to the various linking options, the platform offers several other features that can help you in your job search.

How to export your resume from Xing

In order to export a complete resume at all, you need to fill out your Xing profile in as much detail as possible. Therefore, before you start exporting, check whether any data needs to be added.Then follow these steps to export your resume:

1. Open the website "Lebenslauf.com" in your browser. This is not a third-party site, but an in-house service of Xing.
2. Click on the top left on the function "Transfer data".
3. Now select the option "From the Xing profile".
4. It opens a new window in which you must click the option "Yes, import". You will then be prompted to log in to your Xing user account for confirmation.
5. The tool will then automatically insert your data into the resume template and you will have the option to edit or delete the individual entries or move entire sections.
6. Finally, click the "Download" button in the navigation to save the resume to your computer. You can then print the downloaded file.

Export local data

In addition to importing data directly from the Xing profile, the Xing resume tool also offers the option of using PDF or Word files as a source. To do this, click on "Import data" and then on "From existing resume (Word or PDF file)".
