What is the best eBook reader? The most important things at a glance

With an eBook reader you have all your favorite books compactly on one device. Which eReader is the best for you depends on your needs and budget. Get an overview of different eBook readers and find out if there are other ways to read eBooks besides eReaders.

eBook readers: overview of different models

Even the inexpensive entry-level models such as the Amazon Kindle or the Tolino Page 2 have solid technical features.
  • The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite starts at 119 euros and is waterproof, has a backlit 6-inch display with 300ppi, supports Audible and has around 8 gigabytes of storage space.
  • For around 159 euros, you get a good mid-range reader with the Tolino Vision 5. The highlight of the Vision 5 is the 7-inch large and illuminated screen. Memory-wise, the reader is equipped with around 8 gigabytes of storage space.
  • If it also needs to be a bit expensive, the Amazon Kindle Oasis 3 is a good choice. The reader starts at a price of 229 euros and has, among other things, a blue light reduction and an illuminated 7-inch display with 300ppi.

Are there alternatives to eBook readers?

If you do not want to get a new device to read eBooks, you can alternatively use a reading app. Amazon, for example, offers the Kindle app for iOS and Android devices. This allows you to read digital books on your smartphone or tablet instead of on an eBook reader. In addition to the app, Amazon also offers the option to read eBooks via the browser with the Kindle Cloud Reader. Other providers like Tolino also have their own reading app and web reader.
