Photographing the Sun - Tips and Tricks
Photographing objects requires a different approach than creating a portrait. Especially photographing planets or the sun can become a challenge. Nevertheless, to create a unique photo, you need selected equipment and the right technique.
How to photograph the sun
When photographing the sun and other celestial objects, you already have to consider a few things when it comes to equipment. Besides the hardware, this is important for a detailed photo of the sun.- Use an SLR camera with a telephoto lens that has a high focal length. A focal length of 400 mm is sufficient, but the details of the sun will only be visible from a focal length of 1,000 mm.
- You also need a stable tripod and a remote shutter release to avoid shakiness.
- Since the light intensity of the sun is very high, a suitable filter is also necessary to prevent eye damage. A brand filter can quickly become expensive here. Would you like to switch to a low-cost model, make sure that it is a color-neutral filter.
- Also pay attention to the correct camera setting.

- If you also want to see details such as the sunspots on your photo, then the correct exposure time is very important.
