As far as deleting messages is concerned, Steam Chat has its peculiarities.

Steam counts up to 20 million active users every day. Nevertheless, the chat leaves some wishes unfulfilled.

Can the Steam chat be deleted at all?

The situation is as follows:

• You cannot delete Steam chats in the PC client - the option to do so simply does not exist.
• All messages, however, will no longer be visible after two weeks.
• This does not mean that they will be deleted: All chats are stored permanently, even if you can no longer see them.
• The situation is different in the mobile Steam app: Here you can delete chats at any time at will by tapping on the trash can in the top right corner of the chat. Otherwise, the chats will also disappear from the visible area in the app after two weeks.

This system has already caused some discussion among users, but a change is still not planned. Therefore, if full control over your chats is very important to you, the solution is to use Steam chat only for the bare necessities and switch to other services, be it chat or VoIP voice communication.
