How does iMessage work? A quick overview
There are situations when you might not want to communicate via SMS or WhatsApp. In this case, you can switch to the messaging service iMessage and still send messages easily. How the service actually works and what you need to keep in mind, you will learn in this article.
How does the iMessage service work?
iMessage is a service available from Apple for iOS devices and is therefore an interesting alternative to WhatsApp and SMS.- Look at your iOS device and look for the "Messages" button. This is already pre-installed on your device.
- In principle, the messaging service works similarly to WhatsApp, as the latter also sends messages over the Internet. However, a key advantage is that your messages are sent as SMS if you do not have access to the Internet.
- To send a message, select a contact who also uses an iOS device. In the input field you can now read the note "iMessage". If the contact does not use this function, it says "SMS".
- Colored iMessage messages are always displayed in blue, while SMS messages are highlighted in green.
- In order to contact via iMessage, it is only necessary that the desired person is stored in your phone book. For this you need either the phone number or the Apple ID.
