Even after getting into Star Citizen, you are welcome to continue investing real money. This applies not only to ship purchases, but also to the subscription model, where you sign up for a monthly subscription.

Since Star Citizen is crowdfunded, fresh money is still needed. With subscriptions, the cash flow is strengthened.

Star Citizen: Dust off monthly bonuses with subscription

Currently, there are two subscription models:

• Centurion: For the equivalent of 10.83 euros per month, you get benefits such as the digital magazine "Jump Point", initial access to the PTU, early access to event tickets, concept art and other goodies. Most importantly, you get 20,000 REC each month and can fly that month's ship for free all month long.
• Imperator: the more expensive subscription costs 21.66 euros per month. In addition to the Centurion features, you can test brand new ships early, plus you get 40,000 REC per month.

Also worth a mention: once you've logged twelve months as a subscriber (doesn't have to be consecutive), you get a one-time discount on digital purchases, such as new ships. For Centurion subscribers, the discount is 10 percent; for Imperators, it's 20 percent.
