Mozilla Firefox: Block pop-ups - here's how to do it

Pop-ups are mostly annoying, but sometimes indispensable. Firefox allows you to custom-fit setting options to block and allow. Our guide shows how it works.

Firefox users can allow or block pop-ups as needed.

Firefox remains one of the most important browsers in the world. Individual settings are therefore part of the standard.

How to block pop-ups in Firefox

Follow these steps:
  1. Click on the menu icon at the top right and open the "Settings".
  2. Click on "Privacy & Security".
  3. Under "Permissions" you will see the option "Block pop-up windows". By ticking, you specify whether the function is active or not.
With active blocker, all pop-ups are blocked, which is useful for advertising banners and other unwanted content. However, there are also pages where pop-ups are necessary. You can target these pages under "Exceptions" so that functionality there is not affected.
