  1. In the search box at the bottom left of your desktop, type "cmd" and confirm with the Enter key.
  2. In the list of results, the "Command Prompt" is now listed. Right-click on it and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.
  3. Now enter the following commands in the console one after the other and confirm each with the Enter key: "net stop wuauserv", "net stop cryptSvc", "net stop bits" and "nt stop msiserver".
  4. After the services have been stopped, you must enter and confirm two more commands. Enter "ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old" and "ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old" in the command prompt.
  5. After this process is finished, you can restart the services that were stopped before. For this, you must again enter four commands and confirm each with Enter: "net start wuauserv", "net start cryptSvc", "net start bits" and "net start msiserver".
  6. After you have restarted your PC, you can try again to download the update.
