Twitter: Enable night mode - how to do it

If you frequently use Twitter in low-light conditions, night mode can help protect your eyes from fatigue. This can be used both on the Twitter website and in the app. We explain here how to activate night mode step by step on your device.

This is how Twitter's night mode works

With Twitter's night mode, also known as Dark Mode, the background of the messaging service appears in a black-blue color. While the night mode was initially only available in the Twitter app, you can now set it up for the website as well. As the name suggests, using night mode is especially useful at night and in the evening, as the dark background is easy on your eyes.

Twitter: How to activate night mode in the app and in the browser

Independent on whether you use Twitter via the browser on your computer or in the app for mobile devices, night mode can be activated in a few steps. Here's how to do it in each case:
  1. If you use Twitter on your PC, first go to the Twitter website in your browser and sign in. Then click on the profile picture in your account and select "Night Mode" from the options that appear.
  2. If you have an iOS device, Night Mode can be enabled by opening the app, first clicking on "Account" in the menu bar, and then clicking on the "gear icon" to open the settings. As soon as you click on "Turn on night mode", it is activated.
  3. To activate night mode on an Android device, click on the "Profile icon" in the app and move the slider next to the "Night Mode" entry so that it is highlighted in green.
