How to perform a linear regression in Excel

If you want to perform a linear regression to make a forecast or find correlations between your data, Excel offers you a special function. In order to perform a regression, there must be a linear relationship between the x and y variables. In addition, the y variable must be scaled metrically. There are also some requirements for the error terms.

1. Click on "Data" in Excel and then on "Data Analysis". Here, select the "Regression" option. In some cases, you may need to activate this function via "File" > "Options" > "Add-Ins" > "Manage" > "Go".
