Key combination emoji - how to do it

In the world of smartphones, emojis have become indispensable. But also on your PC you have the possibility to easily insert laughing smileys and other symbols into chats or other text fields via a key combination. Here's how to do it.

How to use emojis via a keyboard shortcut

Emojis are great for adding some humor to a message or text.

1. Open the document or message where you want to insert emojis.
2. First, move the mouse pointer to the place where you want to insert the emoji. This is possible in many kinds of applications, for example, in Teams, Word, Excel and chat programs.
3. Now press the key combination [Windows key] and [.], whereupon the list of all available emojis and symbols appears.
4. Now click on the emoji that you want to insert at the specified location in the text.

Good to know: On a Mac, you can also easily add emojis using the keyboard.

How to insert emojis anywhere in texts

Using the key combination [Ctrl] and [c], you can easily copy emojis from messages and texts. To paste them anywhere, you then use the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl] and [v]. These keyboard shortcuts are considered the most effective way to quickly copy and paste text and other content.
