OpenOffice: set line spacing - how to do it

OpenOffice is one of the most popular office programs besides Microsoft Office. When you write a text, you occasionally need to change the line spacing, for example in a letterhead or in a bulleted list. In Word there is a function "Set line spacing", this also exists in OpenOffice.

The fastest way to set the line spacing is to add the corresponding function to the toolbar. To do this, click on the arrow icon, select "Visible buttons" and check the line spacing "1", "1.5" and "2".

How to set line spacing in OpenOffice

To set a different line spacing in OpenOffice, you need to follow the steps below.
  1. First, click on the "Format" tab at the top of the menu.
  2. Now select the third option "Paragraph" from the drop-down menu.
  3. In the window that opens, you can select the "Indents and Paragraphs" tab.
  4. Under this category, you will find the "Line Spacing" option. Here you can make all line spacing related settings.
  5. There are several ways to set the line spacing. If you choose the option "Proportional", the line spacing will be adjusted to the font size. Here, there are the options "1.5" or "2", which correspond to 1.5 or 2 times the font size.
  6. With the "At least" option, the distance above the line is added in centimeters.
  7. With "Through", the distance below the line is added.
  8. With "Fixed" you specify the line spacing fixed, this is then not calculated depending on the font size.
OpenOffice also offers some other useful options. For example, you can rotate images or create useful charts that show you information clearly.
