iPhone X: Voicemail trivia

To make sure you don't miss any important messages from callers, the iPhone X also has voicemail. Once you have set up the digital answering machine, you can easily listen to messages left.

How to set up visual voicemail on the iPhone

All mobile providers offer an answering machine for their smartphone. With most providers, you also have the feature to use Visual Voicemail for your iPhone X. The difference is that you don't have to use your watch face to navigate through messages. Instead, you will see a list of messages directly on your display, allowing you to sort through them and decide which ones to listen to.

1. First, pick up your iPhone X and open the Phone app.
2. At the very bottom of the menu bar, now tap "Voicemail."
3. In the next step, select "Set up now" and follow the on-screen instructions to set a password. If a call is started instead, continue reading in the next paragraph.
4. Next, select a greeting. You can choose between the preset default greeting and one you record yourself.
5. Finally, tap "Done."

Enable voicemail via mobile carrier

If you open the Phone app as described above and tap "Voicemail," you may not have the option to set up voicemail. If this is the case, you will need to enable voicemail for your iPhone X via your provider. Depending on the provider, you may have to call a different number here.
