FaceTime: Change number - how it works

With the FaceTime application you have the possibility to start video calls with friends and family and thus communicate eye-to-eye even over long distances. To do this, all you need is an Internet-enabled Apple device that is also equipped with a webcam and microphone.

How to change your number on FaceTime

Using FaceTime requires a number that you can quickly and easily change to use your own Apple ID. This requires only a few steps and you need only a few minutes and handles to make these changes.

1. First, call the "Settings" and navigate there to the sub-item "Messages".
2. Now check whether "iMessage" is turned on. If this is not the case, then now perform the activation. This point can take a few minutes.
3. Now select "Send & Receive".
4. Now you should be shown "Use Apple ID for iMessage".
5. If this is the case, then tap this button and then enter your Apple ID that you normally use on your Apple devices.
6. Überprüfen Sie jetzt ein weiteres Mal, ob Ihre Telefonnummer sowie Ihre Apple ID unter „Empfangen und Senden von iMessages über“ hinterlegt sind.
7. Ist alles korrekt, dann ist Ihr FaceTime wieder voll funktionsfähig und Sie können nun mit Ihrer Apple ID sowie Ihrer Telefonnummer wie gewohnt telefonieren.
