Which router do I need for Telekom?

Telekom has various routers on offer that you can use on a Telekom connection. But some routers from other providers, for example from the Fritzbox manufacturer AVM, are also suitable for Telekom customers. We give you an overview of which router you need.

This router is what you need as a Telekom customer

Which router you need for your telecom connection depends on which tariff you have booked. In addition, the various Telekom router models differ in their functions. While some routers support the use of IP telephony, other models are suitable for controlling your smart home or, in addition to DSL, also have an LTE function for accessing the Internet.

1. If you have a fiber-optic connection, the router you choose must be suitable for the speeds achieved through fiber. This is the case with the Speedport Smart 3, which achieves peak speeds of around 2,500 MBit/s.
2. For customers with the Magenta SmartHome tariff, the Speedport Smart 3 is also suitable, as it can be used to manage and control devices such as the TV and music system.
3. If your Internet connection via DSL is not stable enough, you can increase the speed of your surfing by using a hybrid router with LTE. For this, Telekom offers its customers the Speedport Pro.

Router for Telekom: This Fritzbox is suitable

In addition to the various Speedport models from Telekom, it is also possible to use the Fritzbox 7590 on a telecom connection. The Fritzbox 7590 reaches speeds of up to 800 MBit, supports supervectoring and IP telephony. In addition, the Fritzbox 7590 has two USB ports and a hard drive with 1 TB of storage. On request, you can even get the manufacturer's router directly from Telekom.
