Renew lease: iPhone - how to request a new IP
Using DHCP, your iPhone is automatically assigned an IP address by your router. If you want to query your current IP address for various reasons, you can renew your DHCP lease. This is especially necessary in case of network problems, when the iPhone wants to check your connection.
How to request a new DHCP lease on iPhone
Your iPhone performs a new DHCP lease to request the current IP address. This is necessary when the device wants to check the network connection. Since your router always assigns an IP address to your iPhone permanently and for a certain time, a new query is not necessary in most cases. Also note that many routers prohibit a new DHCP lease, as this may cause problems.- If you have network problems, it is also possible to manually request a new DHCP lease.
- Go to the "Settings" on your iPhone for this reason by opening the appropriate app.
- Click here on the entry "WLAN".
- In the next step, tap on your current network connection and then on "DHCP".
- Here you will now find a button with "Renew Lease". Tap this to perform the operation.
- Now a security prompt appears. Bestätigen Sie diese und wählen Sie anschließend „Erneuern“ aus.
- Anschließend wird Ihrem Gerät eine neue IP-Adresse zugeordnet.
