AirPods: Charge Case - how it works

The case you get when you buy the AirPods is not only used to store the Apple headphones, but is also needed to charge them. However, for this to work, the case must be sufficiently charged beforehand. How to check the charge level of the case and recharge this read here.

To do this, you need the charging case

To make the AirPods usable to listen to music wirelessly on your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, you need to charge them first. To do this, simply place the AirPods inside the included charging case and close the lid. Once the charging case is fully charged, it is possible to completely recharge the AirPods several times. You can tell if your charging case is still sufficiently charged by the status indicator, which is located on the front of the case or between the slots of the AirPods, depending on the model. While a green indicator means that the case is fully charged, the yellow indicator signals that a recharge is necessary.

How to recharge the case of your AirPods

If your charging case no longer has sufficient charge, you can recharge the battery of the case as follows:
  1. If you have a wireless charging case, charging is possible using a compatible Qi charging mat. To do this, place the charging case on the mat with the status indicator facing upwards and make sure that the lid of the charging case is closed.
  2. If, on the other hand, you are using a wired charging case, you will need the Lightning cable included in the scope of delivery for charging. For this, please connect one end of the cable to the Lightning connector of the charging case and connect the other end to a USB charger or USB port.
