Outlook: reading pane disappears - here's how to proceed

With Outlook you have the possibility to organize your e-mail accounts and thus always keep track of them. However, it can happen that an error occurs that causes the reading pane to disappear in the program. If this is the case, the cause is usually due to a certain update.

This is what you can do if your reading pane disappears in Outlook

If you have installed the update "KB3114409", it may happen that your reading pane keeps disappearing every time you restart Outlook. To fix this error, the only option is to uninstall the update again.

1. To do this, open the search with the key combination "Windows key" + "R" and enter "Appwiz.cpl".
2. Confirm the entry with the Enter key.
3. Click on the left side of the window on the option "Show installed updates".
4. Within the list, now look for the entry "KB3114409" and double-click on it with the left mouse button. Das Update wird nun deinstalliert.
5. Gehen Sie anschließend auf die „Systemsteuerung“ Ihres Computers und wählen Sie hier „Windows Update“.
6. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche „Nach Updates suchen“.
7. Sobald die Suche abgeschlossen wurde, wechseln Sie zur Detailansicht.
8. Entfernen Sie nun den Haken beim Eintrag „KB3114409“. Sollte dieser Eintrag nicht existieren, dann müssen Sie nichts weiter tun.
9. Klicken Sie mit der rechten Maustaste auf den Eintrag und wählen Sie „Update ausblenden“.
