What is Etsy and why is it so well known in Germany?

Etsy is a sales platform for independent traders. The assortment includes quite a few categories, but the share of handmade products is large. Whether jewelry, decorative items, furniture or clothing, many self-made specialists present their goods on Etsy.

• This role was previously taken over by Dawanda in Germany. However, the marketplace closed its doors in 2018 and Etsy offered itself as a new home for Dawanda dealers.
• Etsy originates from the U.S. and has long been a global address, the number of sellers and products there is incomparably higher.
• For independent, creative people Etsy is therefore also in this country now the most important marketplace.
