Deleting Facebook friends: how to do it

A well-known phenomenon is that the Facebook friends list grows rapidly, even if you don't really keep in touch with many people. If you want to keep things in order, the platform gives you the option to remove friends from the list again. This only takes a few clicks.

Deleting Facebook friends with just a few clicks

Facebook now includes so many features that it can quickly become confusing. By deleting Facebook friends, you reduce the number of posts you see and also keep your account more private. Although Facebook doesn't actually want you to reduce your friends list, the function isn't hard to find.

1. Go to the Facebook page with your browser and log in with your account details.
2. Switch to the profile of the person you want to remove from your friends list.
3. Then click on the icon with the person in the top right corner.
4. Then select the option "Remove as friend" and then "Confirm".
5. If the Facebook profile has already been deactivated, you can still remove the person from the list. Gehen Sie hierfür auf Ihr Profil und anschließend zu „Freunde“.
6. Suchen Sie nach der Person, die Sie entfernen möchten.
7. Klicken Sie auf „Freunde“ und wählen Sie „Als Freund/in entfernen“.

Falls Sie eine Person nur löschen möchten, weil Sie ihre Beiträge nicht mehr sehen möchten, können Sie dies auch einstellen - das Löschen aus der Freundesliste ist also nicht zwangsläufig nötig.
