Noreply Email: What does the address mean?

The word "noreply" is a compound of "no" for no and "reply" for reply. So together the word means "no reply". This term is often used in front of emails to prevent a direct reply to the address in question. Most often, the address reads "[email protected]".

How exactly does the Noreply email work?

In many cases, companies use different email addresses so that they always end up in the right jurisdiction. However, sometimes you are not supposed to be able to reply to an email directly - for example, when you receive a newsletter, as it is just for information and a request should be sent to another department. This is also the case when you receive a reply to a request and for the purpose of faster processing, a response to it should be added to the general ticket system.

How to create a Noreply email

  1. Creating a Noreply email is possible in Thunderbird. Here it is irrelevant which email you use. You should only make sure that the address really does not exist.
  2. Log in to Thunderbird with a real email address and create a new email. Now enter "noreply" as the sender.
  3. In a newsletter service, the process is a lot easier. Hier müssen Sie lediglich im Script bei „Sender“ noreply@<endung>.de eintragen und schon können Sie einen Newsletter mit einem Noreply-Kopf versenden.
