With a VPN you can connect to your private network or another network via virtual direct connection. In this process, all data sent back and forth between the sender and receiver is encrypted. To simplify the setup of a VPN connection, it can be set up on the FritzBox.

How to set up a VPN on a FritzBox

FritzBox has its own VPN service called FritzBox!Remote Access. With this, you can establish a VPN connection to your FritzBox and access all the services within your home network.

1. First, you need to go to the service page about VPN from AVM.
2. Now, download the remote access program and install it on your PC.
3. Go to the FritzBox user interface by typing "fritz.box" in any browser and then enter your router password.
4. Now go left in the menu under "Home Network" to "Network" and select the network settings.
5. Click on "IPv4 addresses" and enter a desired IP address and subnet mask. Click "Ok" to save the changes.
6. The change of IP is necessary, because the FritzBoxes connected via VPN need different IP addresses for the connection to work.
