Setting up an IP camera - how to do it with Fritzbox

In order to use an IP camera for video surveillance, you must first connect it to your router and set it up. If the router is a Fritzbox, the setup is quite simple via the browser. We will show you the exact procedure here.

How to set up an IP camera on the Fritzbox

If you want to protect your home, business or office from burglars using an IP camera, it is always necessary to set it up before using the camera. For this purpose, the camera must not only be connected to the mains via power plug, but also connected to your router. If your router is a Fritzbox, please proceed as follows to set up the IP camera:
  1. Take a LAN cable and connect it to both the IP camera and your Fritzbox.
  2. Then open the user interface of the Fritzbox by entering "fritz.box" in the address line of the browser and confirm with "Enter".
  3. Now still log in with your user data in the user interface of the Fritzbox and check whether the IP camera is present in the list of connected network devices.

Connect an IP camera wirelessly to the Fritzbox

Have you set up the IP camera as described above, you can either continue to operate it via LAN cable or switch to WLAN. However, the prerequisite for this is that your IP camera is WLAN-capable. To connect the camera to the WLAN network, simply press the WPS button on your Fritzbox and wait until the router has detected the camera and established a connection. Then you can disconnect the LAN cable from the IP camera and use it wirelessly.
