Screenshot in Windows - how to take a picture

Whether you are playing a game or chatting, there is always a situation when you would like to take a picture of your screen. Here, every operating system offers the possibility to take a screenshot. In Windows, all you need for this process is a key combination.

How to take a screenshot in Windows

If you want to save the display of your screen as a photo and share it with your friends, it is a good idea to take a screenshot. This function is already included in every operating system and is usually triggered with a suitable key combination. However, keyboards themselves also have a key that you can use to take a screenshot. Regardless of which method you use, the photo is first saved to the clipboard. Then you have the option of opening the image via a selected software.
  1. On Windows keyboards there are various keys with which you can take a screenshot. For example, at the top right of the F keys is the "Print" key. Alternatively, this can also be called "Print" or "Image".
  2. If you press this, a recording of your entire screen is saved to the clipboard. Using the key combination "Ctrl" + "V", you can then paste the image in programs such as "Paint" and save.
  3. If you only want to photograph part of your screen, the snipping tool can be useful. This you open via the search box in Windows.
  4. About "New" you can then mark with your mouse the area you want to photograph.
  5. As soon as you release the mouse, a picture is made and you can save it or discard it.
  6. Alternatively, use the key combination "Ctrl" + "Windows key" + "4".
