Waze: Use offline - these are your options
The most popular navigation app is probably Google Maps. However, there are some alternatives besides Google Maps - Waze is also one of them. The app allows you to navigate from your smartphone, but you need to be connected to the Internet. Offline use is only possible to a limited extent.
How to use Waze offline
In Waze, you can download both the navigation and the traffic information before use and thus use the app even without the Internet. If you want to start a new navigation, however, your smartphone must be connected to the Internet to do so. However, you can start a navigation in advance and then disconnect from the Internet.- Go to the Internet by connecting to a WLAN or mobile network.
- Open Waze and start a new navigation by entering a destination. Wait until the route is completely calculated.
- Start the navigation.
- Now deactivate the mobile data or the WLAN via the quick settings of your smartphone while the app is still open.
- You can use the navigation without being connected to the Internet. Waze has already downloaded and saved all the data you need. However, as soon as the app is closed, the data is lost and offline navigation is no longer possible.
- Traffic information can also be downloaded in advance under "Menu" > "Settings" > "Display and map settings" > "Data transfer".
