Windows 9: Show apps in windowed mode

Apps in windowed mode are a helpful way to keep track of things. Meanwhile, people are already discussing whether Windows 9 will offer this option or whether the feature will have to be dispensed with in this version of Windows as well.

What are the signs that the rumors are true?

Besides Microsoft itself, no one can say at the moment whether you will be able to show your apps in windowed mode on Windows 9. However, Tony Prophet, the marketing manager of Windows, dropped some hints at the Worldwide Partner Conference in Washington that strengthen the conjecture. These include the following hints:
  • It was noted that Microsoft wants to soften the sharp separation of desktop application and the Modern apps under Windows 9.
  • You can use both types of applications in parallel in the future.
  • You should also be able to start the apps not only in full-screen mode, but probably even in windowed mode.
  • For you, this would mean that you can also work in parallel with several Modern apps in the future.
  • This makes working in Windows much easier and more effective.

Should you not get the option to be able to call the apps in windowed mode under Windows 9, then working with this version would not be easier than before. This leaves it questionable whether an operating system under Windows 9 is really worth it, especially for versatile work, or whether you should switch to an operating system with the feature.
