Android 9: Uninstall apps - how to get rid of apps

If you own a smartphone or tablet that uses Android 9, you can uninstall apps pretty easily. However, there is a difference between pre-installed apps and apps you install yourself. Pre-installed apps can only be disabled.

How to uninstall apps on Android 9?

You can easily remove apps via the Google Play Store app.

1. Open the Google Play Store and tap on the three small horizontal dashes to open the menu. Then go on to "My apps and games".
2. Tap on the app or game you want to uninstall and tap "Uninstall".
3. Now you could always press "Install" again if you want the app back on your phone or tablet after all.
4. Pre-installed apps, on the other hand, you can only disable. To do this, go to the app settings, which are marked by a gear icon.
5. Now continue tapping on "Apps & Notifications" and then on those apps that you want to deactivate.
6. If the app is not present in the list, you must first tap on "Show all apps" or "App Info".
