Thunderbird: Recover deleted emails

Have you accidentally deleted some emails in Thunderbird that you still need, you can recover them. The easiest way to do this is through extensions that you must have installed.

How to recover deleted emails: Thunderbird MozBackup

Using the MozBackup addon to backup your Thunderbird emails, you can easily recover the deleted messages. Just right-click the folder where the corresponding mails are located and get back the deleted mails. However, this only works if you have not compressed the folders in the meantime.

Recover deleted mails via addon

If you have not used MozBackup so far, there is another addon that allows you to easily and reliably recover deleted mails in Thunderbird. The addon only works if the corresponding email data has not yet been compressed by Thunderbird. This is how it works:
  1. First go to this website and download "Recover Deleted Messages".
  2. Now click on the menu button in Thunderbird and select "Add-ons".
  3. Here click on the gear and then click on "Install add-on from file".
  4. Navigieren Sie nun zur heruntergeladenen Datei „Recover Deleted Messages“.
  5. Wählen Sie „Installieren“.
  6. Starten Sie Thunderbird nun neu.
Von nun an können Sie einen Rechtsklick auf den Ordner mit den gelöschten E-Mails und wählen Sie „Recover deleted messages“.
