AirPods broken - here's what to do now

If your AirPods no longer connect properly or the battery discharges too quickly, this can have various causes. In many cases, such problems can be quickly resolved with a reset. However, if the reset does not bring the desired success, the AirPods may be broken and need to be replaced.

Resetting AirPods: How it works

If the AirPods are not working properly, the problems can often be fixed by resetting the headphones. Check the battery level of the AirPods before you start the reset. If the headphones are completely discharged, charge them first.
  1. Place the AirPods in the charging case.
  2. Hold down the setup button on the back of the case until the status indicator flashes alternately yellow and white.
  3. Finally, remove the AirPods from the case.
A reset resets all stored connections of the AirPods. To use the headphones as usual again, you need to set them up and connect them to your iPhone, iPad or other iOS device again.

Having AirPods replaced

If the problems cannot be eliminated even with a reset of the AirPods, you have no choice but to have the headphones replaced by Apple. You can do that by contacting support and sending in the AirPods. Alternativ gehen Sie in einen Apple Store und geben die Kopfhörer dort ab. Die Kosten für einen Austausch hängen vom Garantiestatus ab.
