AirPods: Change Name - Individualize Your AirPods

If you don't own just one pair of AirPods or there are multiple owners in your area, then it can be helpful to use a distinctive name for your AirPods. Because that way, you can not only tell the headphones apart, but also find them more easily with the search function.

Give your AirPods a name

It's important that you give your AirPods a name that can be directly traced back to you. This will ensure that you are using your own AirPods.
  1. To do this, turn on your iOS device and turn on Bluetooth.
  2. Display all devices that are paired via Bluetooth.
  3. In the list, click on the Airpods. Next to the name of the AirPods you will find a blue highlighted "i".
  4. Select it by double clicking on it. A new screen will now appear.
  5. There you will now see all the information that is stored for your AirPods - including the name.
  6. You can now simply delete this and enter the desired name.
  7. To confirm your entry, you must click on the "Done" button. You must now confirm again that you really want to deposit the change.

Giving the right information

Since other people can also view your AirPods when looking for Bluetooth devices, you should be careful with personal data. So it is not advisable if you use plain names or other data. Rather use a song title or something similar that allows you to assign the AirPods without any doubt.
